Brooke House Academy Jacksonville is a specialist private school combining high-level football development with a structured academic education.
Our students are ambitious young footballers who train throughout the week while completing their academic education through Florida Virtual School (FLVS). Rather than attending traditional classroom lessons, students complete their coursework online through FLVS. BHA Jacksonville provides the academic environment, structure, supervision and support necessary to ensure students remain engaged, organized and on track with their studies.
We are looking for an experienced, highly organized and motivated Teacher / Academic Coordinator to join our Jacksonville campus.
The Role
The Teacher / Academic Coordinator will have responsibility for the day-to-day academic management and supervision of students at BHA Jacksonville.
This is not simply a classroom teaching position. You will ensure students manage their FLVS coursework successfully, remain on pace, meet deadlines and maintain high academic standards. You will work closely with FLVS teachers, students, parents and BHA leadership to monitor academic progress and provide support where required.
The successful candidate will play a key role in creating a structured, professional and positive academic environment for our student-athletes.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
FLVS Academic Management
- Supervise students during scheduled academic periods.
- Monitor individual student progress across FLVS courses, including grades, assignments, completion rates and overall course progress.
- Monitor FLVS deadlines and expected progress, identifying students who are falling behind or not maintaining satisfactory progress.
- Follow up on incomplete, overdue or outstanding work and ensure students engage consistently with their FLVS coursework.
- Maintain appropriate records of academic progress and engagement.
- Help students develop effective study routines and time management skills.
Student Academic Support
- Provide one-to-one academic support and mentoring.
- Help students understand coursework, assignments and academic expectations.
- Assist with organization, workload management, assessments, exams and FLVS requirements.
- Identify students who require additional academic intervention and liaise with FLVS teachers when further support is needed.
- Help students build independence, accountability and ownership of their education.
Monitoring & Accountability
- Monitor academic performance daily and weekly.
- Set appropriate academic targets with students and develop action plans where progress is falling behind.
- Identify concerns early and communicate them to BHA leadership.
- Maintain accurate academic and attendance records.
- Ensure students meet the academic expectations of BHA Jacksonville and hold them accountable for their responsibilities.
Communication
- Communicate regularly with FLVS teachers and relevant FLVS personnel.
- Provide regular academic updates to BHA leadership.
- Communicate with parents regarding student progress when required.
- Attend academic and student progress meetings.
- Maintain appropriate records of interventions and communications.
Football & Education Integration
BHA Jacksonville operates around the unique demands of student-athletes. The successful candidate will work closely with the football department to help students balance academic commitments with training, competition, travel and other football activities.
- Work with football staff around training and competition schedules.
- Help students manage academic workload around football commitments.
- Identify potential conflicts between academic and football activities.
- Ensure football commitments do not negatively impact academic progress.
- Promote the importance of education alongside football development.
- Support the Academy’s culture of discipline, responsibility and high performance.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for an individual who is passionate about education and understands how to motivate and support young people. The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Teaching or educational experience and relevant qualifications.
- Experience working with teenagers and online learning platforms.
- Strong organizational, administrative and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and the confidence to hold students accountable.
- The ability to build positive relationships, work independently and solve problems proactively.
- A professional and positive approach.
Experience with FLVS, online education, virtual learning environments or student-athlete programs would be highly advantageous.
