Version BHA-SCDC-2026-10-23.1 · Approved
At Brooke House Academy, we believe that discipline, respect, accountability and professionalism are fundamental to success, both in the classroom and on the soccer field.
Our academy is committed to providing a safe, structured and positive environment where every student has the opportunity to develop academically, athletically and personally.
To ensure consistency across our Jacksonville, Tampa and Maitland campuses, Brooke House Academy operates a three-tier disciplinary framework, supported by a progressive three-strike suspension policy.
This framework establishes clear behavioural expectations, appropriate consequences and a fair process for addressing misconduct.
Our Behavioural Expectations
All Brooke House Academy students are expected to:
- Treat teachers, coaches, staff and fellow students with respect.
- Follow reasonable instructions from academy staff.
- Demonstrate positive behaviour in classrooms and training environments.
- Use appropriate language and communicate respectfully.
- Respect academy property and the belongings of others.
- Maintain high standards of sportsmanship and personal conduct.
- Contribute to a safe, inclusive and supportive environment.
- Represent Brooke House Academy positively, both on and off campus.
Students are expected to uphold these standards during academic lessons, soccer training, matches, showcases, tours and all academy-related activities.
Our Three-Tier Disciplinary Framework
TIER 1: MINOR MISCONDUCT
Behaviour requiring correction and intervention
Tier 1 covers minor breaches of academy expectations that do not ordinarily pose a significant safety concern.

- Loss of privileges or supervised reflection.
- Behavioural improvement expectations.
Repeated Tier 1 misconduct may be escalated to Tier 2.
TIER 2: SERIOUS MISCONDUCT
Behaviour requiring formal disciplinary action
Tier 2 covers serious breaches of academy standards, repeated defiance, abusive conduct or behaviour that significantly disrupts the learning environment.
Examples include:
- Profanity or abusive language directed towards teachers, coaches, staff or students.
- Persistent defiance or refusal to follow staff instructions.
- Repeated classroom disruption.
- Bullying, intimidation or targeted verbal harassment.
- Racist or discriminatory language.

- Review of continued enrollment where misconduct persists.
The seriousness of the incident and the student's disciplinary history will determine the appropriate response.
TIER 3: GROSS MISCONDUCT
Behaviour that seriously breaches academy standards or threatens safety
Tier 3 covers serious misconduct that may warrant extended suspension or permanent expulsion.
Examples include:
- Serious physical assault or violence.
- Credible threats of serious physical harm.
- Possession or use of weapons.
- Serious or repeated bullying, harassment or intimidation.
- Serious discriminatory abuse.

- Final written disciplinary warning.
- Strict behavioural improvement agreement.
- Permanent expulsion from Brooke House Academy.
Serious misconduct may result in permanent expulsion following an appropriate review, even for a first offence.
Our Three-Strike Suspension Policy
Brooke House Academy operates a progressive disciplinary framework designed to address repeated serious misconduct.
Formal suspensions are recorded cumulatively throughout a student's enrollment, including across academic years and campuses.
First Formal Suspension
A student's first formal suspension is determined by the seriousness of the incident and the applicable disciplinary tier.
Standard suspension periods are generally 2–10 school days, depending on the nature of the misconduct.
Parents or guardians will receive formal notification of the disciplinary decision.
Second Formal Suspension
A second suspension-worthy offence will ordinarily result in a minimum five-school-day suspension.
Additional requirements may include:
- Mandatory parent meeting.
- Formal written disciplinary warning.
- Behavioural improvement contract.
- Clear expectations for future conduct.
The student and family will be informed that further suspension-worthy misconduct may result in permanent expulsion.
Third Suspension-Worthy Offence
A third suspension-worthy offence will trigger a formal expulsion review.
Permanent expulsion will be the academy's presumed outcome.
Before reaching a final decision, academy leadership will consider the seriousness of the incident, the student's disciplinary history, previous interventions and any relevant individual circumstances.
The Executive Director may authorize an exceptional alternative outcome where justified.
There is no automatic entitlement to another opportunity following a third suspension-worthy offence.
Academic and Soccer Participation
Brooke House Academy expects students to demonstrate appropriate behaviour in both academic and sporting environments.
Disciplinary consequences may affect participation in:
- Academic classes.
- Soccer training sessions.
- Competitive matches.
- Showcases and tournaments.
- International tours.
- Other academy activities.
Where appropriate, a student may be permitted to continue academic attendance while temporarily restricted from soccer participation.
This allows the academy to reinforce accountability while supporting continued academic development.
Fairness, Consistency and Accountability
Brooke House Academy is committed to applying disciplinary standards fairly and consistently across all campuses.
All serious disciplinary incidents will be reviewed by academy leadership.
Decisions will take into account the seriousness of the behaviour, relevant evidence, previous disciplinary history, student welfare and applicable legal obligations.
Students will ordinarily have an opportunity to explain their account before serious disciplinary consequences are finalized.
Parents or guardians will be notified of formal suspensions and expulsion decisions.
Where appropriate, students may be required to complete a reintegration meeting or behavioural improvement agreement before returning to normal academy activities.
Parent Communication and Reconsideration
We believe that communication between the academy and families is essential to maintaining positive behavioural standards.
Parents or guardians will be informed of formal disciplinary consequences and any conditions for returning to the academy.
Families may request reconsideration of a formal suspension or expulsion decision by submitting a written request within five school days of receiving notification.
Requests will be reviewed by the Executive Director or an appropriately designated reviewer.
